The Gay Vegans

Sending love at Christmas

This will be our second Christmas in Los Angeles. We’re pretty excited about a few days off with the furries, a little shopping, a little donating, and lots of eating.

We’ve had our Christmas tree up since the weekend after Thanksgiving. Mike does an awesome job of decorating the place. Now the big day is here and we’ll do a church service on Christmas Eve followed by Chinese food. Christmas day will be relaxing at home with some visiting with neighbors.

Being that my day job is in fundraising for a non-profit, the days in between Christmas and New Year’s are super busy. Yet I still feel totally relaxed and in the spirit. Mike helps a lot with that.

My favorite Christmas song is “Do they know it’s Christmas” which put a spotlight on hunger in Ethiopia back in the 80’s. This is the time of the year that I look within even more to check in with my activism and what I am doing to make this world a better place for all living beings.

Through this blog, I have been connected with so many others who rock the world in work for animal rights, human rights, social justice, equality, liberation and so much more. To all of you I send you love and gratitude. In the US it hasn’t been an easy year, with all of the election crap that has filled the headlines. Yet activism has been as strong as ever and I have watched so many step out of their daily lives to make a difference, whether that was saving kids trapped in rubble in Aleppo, protesting outside of a slaughterhouse, or serving food to a human with nothing at a homeless shelter.

If you have met me and experienced a hug from me, you know that my hugs are serious business. No wimpy hug here. You will know I have hugged you.

To all of you out there doing the work, working for liberation, making the difference, speaking out and standing up, I send you huge love and a big Dan hug.
