The Gay Vegans

Your favorite vegan spot needs you

I don’t need to tell you how bad it is.

No matter where you live, you and your family have been affected by this. Some more than others. Restaurants are closing left and right. And I don’t mean temporarily. Many are closing for good.

Like families that survive paycheck to paycheck, many restaurants were just barely making it before this. The owners put so much blood, sweat and tears into their place, and some could barely pay themselves. Some small, vegan restaurants have been decimated.

And they are trying to survive. We have seen them do everything they can to continue to serve delish vegan food. Whether they are all vegan or vegan friendly, they continue to serve and give us the chance to feel a little normal.

Our friends at Cowhugger, a vegan store that you see at festivals and markets all over southern California, put a message out that their favorite vegan spot could use some support. The next day I made the half hour drive to get lunch from Vinh Loi Tofu. We loved it, and will be back. We were also super happy to support a vegan restaurant.

Your favorite vegan place needs you, maybe more than ever. If you’re in a position to support them, give them a ring and order pickup. Many have delivery services they are connected with. We can’t count on other people to support our favorite places. We can be part of their success, and indeed their survival.

Thanks for reading. I’d love to hear about your favorite vegan spot or one you have learned of because of this crisis.
